Take advantage of a long weekend or a whole week for relaxation and regeneration of your back in the heart of the breathtaking Praděd National Nature Reserve in the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area. The program includes evening lectures on the basic principles of the method, application, and usability of the SM System for various health issues, and twice-daily group exercises of the SM System. All this takes place under the guidance of a certified instructor from the STOP BOLESTI ZAD movement centers. If you’re interested, you can arrange and pay for an individual session with the instructor on site. The program is designed so that you have plenty of time for walks and trips around the area, allowing your body and mind to regenerate simultaneously.

What is the SM System?

SM System, or Spiral Stabilization of the Spine, is a comprehensive exercise system developed by leading Czech physician Dr. Richard Smíšek. It involves a complete exercise routine that engages all the major muscle groups.

The main goal of the method is to strengthen weakened muscles and relax overstrained ones, activate so-called muscle spirals that encircle the body, aligning the spine and lifting it upwards, automate spiral-stabilized walking and running, and thereby regenerate during daily activities. The use of this method is versatile because it focuses on addressing the root causes of problems, not just masking the symptoms. Poor posture, scoliosis, herniated discs, injuries, bunions, or compensating for one-sided movements in athletes, all of this and much more can be positively influenced through this exercise. Thanks to the ability to modify exercises, the system is suitable for people suffering from hip or knee osteoarthritis or for people in a wheelchair.

For spiral stabilization of the spine exercises, a special elastic rope designed by Dr. Smíšek is used. These ropes and other exercise equipment will be available for you during your stay. The exercises are simple, with an emphasis on correct execution. To learn the exercises correctly, it is important to start practicing under the supervision of a certified instructor or therapist of Spiral Stabilization of the Spine.

SM System Program for Beginners

The program is intended for all those who want to get rid of back pain once and for all. It is not a miracle cure, but an effective guide on how to free the body from bad movement habits and bring it back into balance. We will teach you 12 basic SM System exercises, which you can use for home practice. These exercises are divided into two categories: 6 standing exercises and 6 chair exercises (for people who find standing too difficult or painful).

SM System Program for Intermediate Participants

The program is designed for those who know the 6 basic SM System exercises and want to learn more exercises, including the correct walking technique with poles.

Daily Program

  • Exercises (beginners and intermediate): morning (3x/7x) and late afternoon (3x/7x)
  • Walking technique training with poles (intermediate): morning (3x-7x)
  • Lectures (beginners and intermediate): evening (3x)
  • Lecture and discussion on Day 1 – “SM System basics: what you need to know for the exercises to help you.”
  • Lecture and discussion on Day 2 – “How can the SM System personally help you with your specific health problem.”
  • Lecture and discussion on Day 3 – “Which SM System exercises are suitable for me to avoid injury.”
